Ridge & Sky · Coming Soon

Rooted in the mountains.
Drawn to the horizon.

Photography. Storytelling. Music. Apparel. Voice.

We’re building Ridge & Sky one road, one photograph and one story at a time. What started in the mountains of West Virginia is growing into a collection of the places, sounds and things that remind us where we came from and keep pulling us toward whatever is over the next ridge.

Our photography

The places that make us stop.

Mountain weather, waterfalls, back roads, overlooks and the quiet moments in between. Photography is at the center of Ridge & Sky, with prints coming first and drone and astrophotography joining the journey as we grow.

West Virginia

There’s a story around every bend.

We photograph the places that carry a sense of history, belonging and discovery, from familiar Appalachian roads to whatever waits beyond the next horizon.

Our story

Two people. A lot of years. And a road that kept leading back to the mountains.

We’re Ed and Crystal Wagner, both from Logan County, West Virginia. We first met in 1985 on the Logan High School baseball field, Ed as a player and Crystal as a manager. Life eventually took us in different directions before bringing us back together in 2019. We got engaged on Leap Day 2020 and married that October in Canaan Valley, West Virginia.

A new chapter

We’re not retired yet. But we can see the next chapter from here.

After decades spent building careers and working for others, we’re approaching the end of that part of our lives and looking forward to what comes next.

Crystal earned her master’s degree from Marshall University and spent nearly 22 years with the UMWA Health & Retirement Funds. Ed brings more than 37 years with Ford Motor Company, with a career spanning manufacturing, prototype development, distribution and warehouse operations.

We’ve spent most of our adult lives working, building careers and meeting the responsibilities that came with them. Now we’re ready to build something of our own.

Ridge & Sky is part of that next chapter. We want to see more of the United States, travel roads we’ve never traveled, photograph places we’ve never seen, meet people along the way and share those experiences through photography, stories, music and Crystal’s voice.

We’re not starting Ridge & Sky because we have everything figured out. Quite the opposite. We’re starting it because after all these years, we’re finally reaching a point where we’ll have the freedom to find out what’s beyond the next ridge.

Ridge is where we come from. Sky is where we’re headed.

And we can’t forget our daughter, Luna.

Luna, our Husky/German Shepherd mix, is always ready for the next road trip, campground and adventure. Wherever this next chapter takes us, there’s a pretty good chance she’ll be along for the ride.

Explore with us

From the ridges we know to the horizons we haven’t reached yet.

Ridge & Sky isn’t meant to stay in one place. The photographs, stories and journeys will grow together, from West Virginia’s mountains and state parks to roads much farther from home.

Original music
In development

Some stories need a soundtrack.

Music gives us another way to tell stories about home, memory, roads, mountains and the strange habit humans have of realizing what mattered only after they’ve driven away from it.

In development

Take a little piece of the mountains with you.

We’re developing Ridge & Sky apparel and other goods inspired by West Virginia, the outdoors, the roads we travel and the stories we collect along the way.

That may mean shirts, prints, keepsakes, and small home and travel pieces — things that feel connected to the places and stories behind Ridge & Sky.

Apparel shown is AI-generated concept artwork. Final products, garment styles, colors, placement and printed details may differ from these previews.

Voiceover & narration
In development

Some stories are meant to be heard.

Crystal’s voice work adds another layer to The Wagner Collective, from narration and story-driven projects to the voice that can carry Ridge & Sky films beyond the photograph.

We’re still learning. Still exploring. Still discovering what Ridge & Sky will become.

But we know where it begins: in the mountains we came from, the roads that keep calling us back, and the stories worth carrying forward.

Rooted in the mountains. Drawn to the horizon.
